Some Assembly Required

The houses we build in San Carlos, AZ are a "little" bit different than the houses we build in Mexico.  Here are a few photos of the first stages of a house.  The outer walls of these houses we are building with what is called "fast block."  The blocks are like big styrofoam legos.  We stack them together, reinforce them with rebar (steel rods) and fill every other column with cement.

Materials and tools at the work site.
Out of view there is a slab that was already poured for the group.

The first group working on stacking and pouring the first lift of the walls.

The end of a day, the first 4 foot section of the wall is built and the door bucks are in place.

I missed a few photo opportunities, so here we skip to some of the work done by the next couple of groups.  The second lift (the top part of the wall) has been poured, windows and doors installed and the trusses and stucco are going up.

End of another day. The boy in the picture lives nearby and likes to come and help us.

Here we have a second coat of stucco going up and the facia boards
(these run along the front of the trusses to give it a finished edge).

While groups were working on this house, there were 5 others stared at the same time.  These houses for the most part have the interior walls built and standing, the roof on, shingles and all and have either had wiring run are are about ready for it.  Sorry no pictures.  Oh, the suspense.  Guess you'll just have to tune back in at a later date.
